red leaves won't last long chocolate colors melt in land fall passes like sand
how much longer now why must you all drift away why must we all leave
All the leaves will soon be gone so enjoy the final show. Soon it will be gone and we’ll be walking in the snow with bare branches all around, celebrating to the sound of Christmas music in the background, hopefully.
Hopefully we'll get another round of this life here on earth. Orbiting through the galaxy like aging aliens in hyper motion defying gravity. I'm always looking forward to the next season. Like I get bored near the end or maybe it's just my way of moving on when I'm forced to.
My kids are 19 & 17 this year so I'm expecting major changes to occur for all of us. It's exciting but also a sentimental and scary time concerning independence and adapting to new changes. I'm surprisingly at ease growing old. I can actually appreciate a tree now whereas before when I young I didn't have the attention span to notice such beautiful things all around me.
The saying that “the youth is wasted on the young” is so very true.
I like to turn cliches into haikus.
Try this exercise: write a Haiku about a cliche to give it new meaning.
Time yourself. Write one in the quickest amount of time, then wait a day. Revise it on the following day and continue each day until you feel that's it's complete.
It is now 8:05 am. Haikus are traditionally about time and the passing of it so let's incorporate time into this exercise.
grandma time is slower more gentle than brittle leaves passing angel wings
It is now 8:10 am. This poem took five minutes but wait. Tomorrow I will discover something new after I set this aside, and relax to forget about it.
An epiphany is sure to come like clockwork, when I least expect it.
That is how Jedi poetry works. Within the constraint of time there are rules which force us to recognize the importance of each moment.
“Take a picture, it will last longer”.
Is that an expression of hostility or a cliche about staring?
Write a Haiku about it. Everything will make more sense afterwards because Hindsight is 20/20.
